Severe dust storms with winds up to 60 mph. 

Dust Bowl boy- famous picture.

  Dry cracked soil or land due to a severe drought-Desert.

  People wore dust makes because they could not breathe.  Some people died because they became ill or had dust pneumonia.  Their lungs would fill up with dust. 
Families were forced to leave their homes and migrate west seeking safety and security.
Farmers would have dry seasons- no rainfall.  This lasted from 1930-1936 and in some places up to 1940. Almost a decade of dust storms.
Livestock along with other animals were buried alive.
A time of feeling helpless and depressed. A time of great suffering.
The geographical location of this historical moment.
